Lillie's Journey Home

Lillie is coming home. We will attempt to update it daily, but there are no promises! Please keep Lillie, Gill, and T. Walker in your thoughts and prayers.....and please say a little prayer for mom and dad who are on the frontlines of boy-rearing for three weeks. Also, check out the dropshots link on the right hand side of the blog for more photos.

Nanning Travel Day

Today was moving day to Nanning. The capital of Guangxi Autonomous Region, it is tropical, the same latitude as Havana(all references are made using communist countries, of course). It has 2 million people and 1/2 million motorcycles.
But it is beautifully green.
Being so close to Vietnam, the population is made of numerous ethnic groups, and many resemble the vietnamese people. Also, we found out last night that Lillie has been in foster care since May and has learned to understand some Cantonese, not Mandarin, like the majority of China.
We made our first trip to Walmart, and for tose of you who have been to a Chinese Walmart, this will sound familiar. They are 4 stories and there are employees on every aisle and sometimes 3-4 per aisle. They have escalators for the carts, basically a moving sidewalk that goes one story. They have a greeter like the U.S. Supercenters, and of course we set off the security alarm leaving. This was a big event, because there were literally 30 people walking through this thing when it went off, so no one knew who did it. So, the guard held up the line and there must have been 50-70 people bunched up, not able to leave, because of a $1.50 pair of sunglasses in our bag!! They apologized profusely for causing an international incident.....I wanted to tell them Lisa was born in Arkansas and "knows people" at the home office.
Anyway it all ended well and everyone smiled and life went on.
Tomorrow we receive Lillie at 3:30 pm. It could be tough because she will have been driven from her home which is about 3-4 hours away. So, we hope to get some pictures out 24 hours from now for everyone....we'll just have to wait and see.
